Under the guidance of Sarin Hotels, with industry experience of over 25 years in hospitality, the hotel adopts the Tikanga Māori value of kaitiakitanga (stewardship) as we believe we have a direct responsibility for the environment. We are committed to sound environmental practice and safeguarding our environment in partnership with the whole community beyond compliance with environmental legislation. Proudly Maintaining IGH Standards
We are currently carrying out the following systems and processes within our hotel to minimise our environmental impact:
- Tracking the success of our sustainability policies through weekly and monthly management meets.
- Ensuring most communication is done via electronic platforms where possible and usage of printing, postage and other waste procedures are minimised.
- Our staff are encouraged to switch off their electronic equipment and office printers when not in use.
- Staff are provided with water bottles of their own to minimise single use waste.
- We reduce the use of toxic cleaning chemicals by replacing these with ecofriendly products from Ecolab where possible.
Sustainable Initiatives Our Green Policy provides Guests with an outline on how they can help us in reducing the environmental impact of their stay. We ensure that our policies do not compromise on the comfort, standards and enjoyment of our guests, whilst allowing for them to be aware of their ability to help reduce their impact
Working towards achieving a higher level of certification within the IHG Green Engage System.
Continue to reduce our energy consumption by implementing more LED lighting throughout the hotel.
Tamper proof bulk toiletries will be in installed within each guest room to reduce the consumption single use plastic amenities.
Provide staff with the opportunity and awareness to attend local community not for profit initiatives.
Paperless check in and check out systems. This will be done through the introduction of TYALLS technology for paperless procedures at the front desk.
We will continue to review our environmentally policies annually to ensure we are making a proactive effort in our goals to minimise our environmental impact.

For Our Guests
Environmental procedures in place for our guests:
- We have ensured not to use single use bin liners within our rooms and have trained our cleaning team to uses reusable cloths to disinfect the bins every day.
- Towel and linen reduction policy is in place to help reduce water consumption.
- Toilets have an option for half flush and full flush depending on the requirement.
- Sheets and pillow covers are changed every three days for guests staying multiple nights, unless requested otherwise
